We are looking for a well rounded Senior Product Designer who has a passion for conceiving of and executing simple and impactful interfaces for the queer community. Grindr is a huge, uniquely important app, and you’ll be part of a small team that shapes the direction and future of a product used by over 15 million people a month.
What’s so interesting about this role?
As a Senior Product Manager at Grindr, you’ll have the opportunity to launch a new web product from start to finish. Building upon the success of our mobile apps, you’ll help identify and chart the user and technical needs to create a new experience for our community that is scalable, iterable, and discreet. You’ll lead a small team of talented devs, engineers, and design talent. You create structure from ambiguity and operate with intent while looking for opportunities. You turn empathy into action for our enthusiastic, queer userbase. You’ll turn your vision into strategy through your curiosity, grit, compassion, and data-driven decisions.
What’s the job?
- Partner closely with design and engineers to plan and develop product strategy and elegant, user-centric experiences.
- Utilize experiment-driven analysis and metrics to plan, launch, and evaluate projects.
- Ideate, validate, elaborate, execute, ship, measure, repeat.
- Become an expert in the dating business, LGBTQ+ community, and social/communication technologies.
- Listen to the people who use the app, the people who don’t, stakeholders, and teammates. Then absorb and incorporate into your thinking, process, and roadmap.
- Collaborate through excellent verbal and written communication, product requirements, user stories, Slack emojis, and documentation.
- Prioritize and orchestrate projects through agile development.
What We’ll Love About You
- 4+ years’ experience as a product manager on a web or mobile app in the consumer product space.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ownership of successful products throughout the product lifecycle.
- Proven experience driving projects with cross-functional colleagues using iterative development methodologies and A B testing best practices.
- Excellent analytical skills, comfortable working with data and data tools, knowing which questions to ask and how to find the answers.
- Working knowledge of user interface design practices and user testing. Experience collaborating with engineering to drive delivery and adapt to technical constraints without comprising user needs. Will have experience partnering with Marketing to successfully launch programs.
- Highly collaborative. Builds trust & strong relationships at all levels.
- Structures, clarifies, and breaks-down problems. Proven experience to concurrently lead multiple strategic and tactical initiatives.
We’ll Really Swoon if You are/have:
- Familiar with releasing apps & updates on iOS and Android platforms.
- Experience with global products across different markets, cultures, and languages.
- Strong design aesthetic with understanding of what makes a strong user experience.
- Experience partnering with user researchers and working with qualitative data
- Handy with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Testflight, spreadsheets, whiteboards, post-its, zoom, phone calls, IRC.
- Experience with dating, social, communication, or chat apps/services.
- Experience on growth-focused teams driven by experimentation and rapid iteration
- Background in design, engineering, sociology, physics, or applied mathematics

- Collaborate with design team members
- Partner closely with engineering and product owners to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges.
- Iterate on designs based on feedback from team members, stakeholders, and users.
- Always be an advocate for our users.
- Stay up-to-date with mobile app design trends, best practices, patterns, new capabilities, etc., and use this knowledge to push the product forward.
You should have...
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in product design, UI design and/or UX design in a fast-paced environment.
- An outstanding portfolio, showcasing a foundation in Typography, Interaction and Visual Design, and Ideation.
- Experience designing for both Android and iOS. Responsive web experience a plus.
- Experience with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Proto.io (or other prototyping tool) a must
- Experience working on a live app
